Fort Walton Beach First United Methodist Church offers opportunities to
serve in local, national and global missions and ministries.
Back Pack Ministry
Partnering with Silver Sands School, we provide “sack” meals to supplement students with their weekend nutritional needs. Each year we provide over four thousand meals for these children.
Back To School
Yearly, children at Fresh Start, a local program for unsheltered families in the greater FWB area, are provided a back pack filled with school supplies.
Clothes Closet
New and gently used clothes are collected and available weekly during the Community Breakfast. These are distributed at no cost to those in need.
Disaster Relief
Collecting and assembling Flood Buckets and Health Kits is a congregation-wide activity in response to domestic disasters.
Embrace Florida’s Kids
Our church is a proud supporter of their work in providing quality foster care for children and families in need. We were named Guardian of the Bell, an honor bestowed to a church for outstanding support.
Evangelism
Teaching our members scripture, providing instruction and tools for sharing the Gospel, and offering opportunities to share Christ and His redemptive love are cornerstones of our evangelism program.
First Fridays
Monthly, on the first Friday, a team visits one of our local parks to serve pizza, converse with the unsheltered, and share the love of Christ.
Flower Ministry
Sunday morning Sanctuary flowers are rearranged and delivered to members of the congregation who are sick, hospitalized, or homebound, as well as to others who are celebrating special events in their lives.
Handyman Ministry
Assisting with simple daily needs, such as changing light bulbs and hanging draperies, is an outreach targeting our elderly and infirmed.
High School Mission Trip
Our High School students continue the long tradtition of serving others and sharing Jesus through service. Their actions have taken them to Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Kentucky.
Homebound Communion
Church members who are homebound are taken Holy Communion as a way to stay connected to our church family.
Mug Ministry
Designed to extend hospitality, our first time guests are delivered a FWBFUMC coffee mug filled with information about our church and its many opportunities for worship and service.
Operation Christmas Child
Each year, we pack in excess of one-thousand shoe boxes filled with clothes, toys, hygiene items, and school supplies to be distributed globally as part of an evangelism and discipleship program.
Operation Hope
For over thirty years Operation Hope has provided children and their families blessings of food, gifts and the story of Christ’s birth.
Opportunity Place
Monthly, our congregation provides meals to this local shelter for women and families. Over the past five years, we have provided over 2,100 meals.
Prayer Team
Seeking God’s plans and desires for our part in the Great Commission, this team prayerfully seeks leadership and direction of the Holy Spirit.
Sager Brown Mission
Annual trips are made to Baldwin, LA to assist the collection and sorting of UMCOR disaster relief supplies.
Stephen Ministry
Caregivers provide confidential, Christ-centered emotional support to those who are hurting or grieving.
TLC (Tender Loving Care)
This ministry works in meeting the needs of the sick, hospitalized, homebound, and bereaved in our church family through visits, calls, transportation and meals.
Tuesday Morning Community Breakfast
Each Tuesday, a team provides breakfast for the unsheltered and working poor in our community. Upwards of two-thousand meals are prepared each year.
WeCare
Helping to bridge the gap when people experience personal or household financial needs.
